Jimmy's Grille expanding to Rehoboth Beach

Jimmy's Grille is expanding and it's coming to Rehoboth Beach.
Named Jimmy's Grille of Rehoboth Beach, the 5,000-square-foot restaurant will be on the corner of Route 1 southbound and Sea Air Avenue, in the building that once housed PNC Bank and Purr-fectly Thrifty.
This will be the third Jimmy's Grille restaurant – the original on South Main Street in Bridgeville and a second one on Route 1 in Dewey Beach.
Owner Alex Pires said the restaurant is expected to be open by late summer. “Give it six months,” he said.
The old building is about halfway through the demolition process right now, said Pires on Jan. 8. He said building is scheduled to begin the week of Jan. 12 and the Milford-based Brendon Warfel will be doing the construction.
Pires described the future restaurant as kind of like Cracker Barrel, but with alcohol. He said there will be two large dining rooms, a smaller dining room/bar and a store.
Pires said there's been a 25-year commitment to making the restaurant work, and he is excited about expanding to that location because the stores in the development already see a tremendous amount of traffic.
“We're in it for the long term,” he said.
