John F. Timmons III named Delaware Driver of the Year
The Delaware Motor Transport Association Inc. named John F. Timmons III Driver of the Year at the Annual Driver of the Year Awards Banquet in Dover Nov. 8. Timmons was selected from an outstanding field of 12 Drivers of the Month by a Delaware State Police selection committee.
A feed delivery driver with Mountaire Farms of Delaware in Millsboro, Timmons has been with the company for 38 years. He has accumulated more than 2 million lifetime safe driving miles.
Timmons had been selected DMTA Driver of the Month for March. In May he set a record by competing in the Delaware Safe Truck Driving Championships for the 25th consecutive year. Taking home first-place trophies on three occasions (with numerous second- and third-place trophies throughout the years), he has also competed in the American Trucking Association's National Truck Driving Championships three times.
Mountaire Farms Director of Transportation Fred Bowen said, “John’s commitment to safety is second to none, and he practices the highest professional driving standards both on and off the job. We are proud of his accomplishment.”
Timmons has received numerous awards from both DMTA and Mountaire Farms for his outstanding achievements as a professional driver.
He resides in Dagsboro with his wife Dawn. They have two children and three grandchildren.
