John Frasier Anderson III, loving husband, father

June 12, 2025

John “Jack” Frasier Anderson III died Wednesday, May 28, 2025, following a battle with cancer that he fought with the courage and fortitude that defined him throughout his life. He was born Oct. 26, 1936, in Harmarville, Pa., son of the late John and Mary (Crighton) Anderson. He was preceded in death by his older brother, Arnold; his older sister, Eve Mae; and his younger brother, Robert “Bobby”. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lois (Heinle) Anderson; and son, John.

Jack was known for his calm demeanor and his ability to appreciate the humor and enjoyment of almost any crazy predicament in which he and Lois found themselves. Following their marriage in 1961, Jack finished his degree at Purdue University, after which they enjoyed travel and family while John built his clientele as salesman and manager for Krueger International in Washington, D.C. In 1972, John and Lois welcomed their son, John Jr., into their lives and settled in Ellicott City, Md., before moving to Columbia Md., where they resided for 44 years while raising John Jr. with much love and tenderness. In 2004, they relocated to Lewes to join John’s sister, Eve. They gradually built a large network of family and friends that kept them busy entertaining and relaxing.

Jack welcomed his extended family into his open heart. He adored his sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law- law, and his nieces and nephews and their younger families. He also enjoyed the company of many dogs throughout his life. He and Lois welcomed family and friends to their home, where they made sure there was plenty of laughter. He is remembered by many for his boating skills, his careful instructions on how to best bait for crabbing, and his love of oysters. He shared books and music with one and all, enjoyed luxury vehicles, and a good game of golf. Jack was also a fabulous storyteller, and his ability to remember details and build suspense before getting to the punchline always left listeners wanting to hear more. He loved history and a good book, reading two or three a week. He was a lifelong learner, always interested in new ideas, new technology, and new adventures.

In the words of a lifelong friend, Al Bahr, “I am a better man for having known Jack”. Many agree.

Funeral services will be private at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests that donations be made in Jack's memory to a charity of choice.
