John Joseph Glodek Jr., Procter & Gamble retiree

John Joseph Glodek Jr, 74, of Bethany Beach, formerly of West Chester, Pa., passed away Saturday, Dec. 22, 2018, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes.

John is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Barbara Marie (Pennewill) Glodek and their four children: Barbara Ann Zrebiec (Ken), Linda Marie Gotchel (Andy), Christine Joann Glodek, and John Paul Glodek (Stacy). He is also survived by his seven precious grandchildren: Sarah, Ashley and Stephen Zrebiec, Charlotte and Caroline Gotchel, and Sadie and Simon Glodek.

John was born in Chester, Pa., April 7, 1944, to the late John Joseph Glodek Sr. and the late Mary Angela (Jurkowski) Glodek. He graduated from Archmere Academy in 1962, and then he earned his bachelor of science degree in biology from St. Joseph’s University in 1966. John proudly served his country during the Vietnam War from 1966-69 in the U.S. Marine Corps.

John began his career with Scott Paper Company, and after 31 years, he retired from Procter & Gamble. John was an avid reader, and he loved being a Dziadzi to his seven grandchildren.

A private memorial service will be held at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Sussex County. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to Operation SEAs The Day (www.operationseastheday.org ).
