Johnson Orthodontics awards scholarships to two local grads

Johnson Orthodontics recently awarded $500 scholarships to Cape graduate Lyndsey Smailer and Sussex Academy graduate Samantha Sordi.

The Extraordinary Smiles Scholarship was established in 2018 to help Cape seniors reach their academic and career goals. This year, Johnson Orthodontics decided to expand the program and award two scholarships – one to a Cape senior and one to a senior from any of the other local high schools.

Smailer and Sordi were selected based on their outstanding academic and extracurricular records, strength of character and the personal essays they wrote about making someone smile.

Smailer will be attending the University of Delaware where she plans to major in early childhood education and minor in art. Sordi will be heading to Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania to study neuroscience.
