Joseph R. Lafollette, proud Army veteran

Joseph R. Lafollette, 73, of Georgetown, formerly of Wilmington, passed away surrounded by his loving family Wednesday, July 4, 2018, at his home. He was born in Wilmington Oct. 19, 1944.

Joe proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He retired from the Army in 1983, where he was a certified air traffic controller.

After his retirement from the military, he served as the bartender for the West End Rod & Gun Club in Wilmington for years. He enjoyed fishing, crabbing, boating, shooting pool and going to the casino.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Anna Kahn; and three brothers, Edward Kahn, Patrick Kahn and Frederick Kahn. He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Ann L. Seidel; two sons, Eugene LaBelle of Middletown and Paul LaBelle and his significant other Michelle of Wilmington; five grandsons, Christopher, Camryn, Austin, Mark and Aiden; two sisters, Trina Hottes and her husband Ronald of Georgetown, and Irene Swiderski and her longtime companion Patrick of Milton; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Services and burial are private.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Joe's name to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963. The family would also encourage people to register with the Bone Marrow Registry to help fight leukemia by visiting www.bethematch.org
