Josiah E. Timmons Jr., never knew a stranger
Josiah E. Timmons Jr., 96, of Bishopville, Md., died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2022, at Atlantic Shores Rehabilitation & Health Center in Millsboro. Born in Bishopville, Josiah was the son of the late Josiah E. and Frances (Bunting) Timmons.
He was a retired purchasing agent for Green Giant and a weighmaster for Mountaire Farms.
Josiah was a life member of Selbyville Elks Lodge 2173. He was also a member of American Legion Post 24 in Dagsboro and Post 123 in Berlin, and a former member of Bishopville Vol. Fire Dept. He spent most of his best days tending to his garden and filling his produce stand for local customers. He never knew a stranger.
He is survived by a son, Stephen P. Timmons and wife Suzanne of Millsboro; a daughter-in-law, Luanne Timmons of Salisbury; five grandchildren, Ryan Timmons (Jennifer), Jessica Short (Kirby), Stephanie Joseph (Joshua), Josiah Timmons IV, and Carrie Webster (Robert); eight great-grandchildren, Aalyah, Sarah, KJ, Kayla, Layton, Luke, Lance, David and a great-great-grandson, Nate.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise L. Timmons; a son, Josiah Timmons III; two brothers, George Lee Timmons and Elton Timmons; two sisters, Ruth Hazzard and Pauline Johnson.
A graveside service will be held at noon, Tuesday, Feb. 22, at Bishopville Cemetery, Bishopville, with Rev. Bob Hudson officiating.
