Judge Bradley named to Earl Bradley case
Superior Court Judge E. Scott Bradley has been assigned to try the case of Dr. Earl Bradley, a Lewes pediatrician accused of abusing as many as 100 patients.
The case was originally assigned to Judge Richard F. Stokes, but Resident Judge T. Henley Graves reassigned the case to Bradley.
In a memo issued Jan. 15, Graves said Stokes is already handling the murder trial of Millard Price of Greenville, expected to begin Monday, March 8.
Judge Bradley, who is not related to Earl Bradley, issued warrants related to the pediatrician's arrest.
Earl Bradley was arrested Dec. 16. He posted bail and was rearrested on Dec. 18. Bradley is currently being held at James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in Smyrna on $2.9 million cash bond. He faces numerous life sentences on more than 30 felony charges of rape and exploitation of young children.
The Department of Justice recently sued Dr. Bradley on racketeering charges in an attempt to preserve assets that might later be used to help victims.
Another civil suit was filed in New Castle County against Dr. Bradley and Beebe Medical Center by the parents of a 2-year-old victim.
Prosecutors are expected to take the case to a Sussex County grand jury seeking an indictment.
