Judy Ann Lemley, beloved community member
Judy Ann Lemley, born in Wilmington, passed away Saturday, Sept. 6, 2025, while vacationing in Virginia Beach, Va. She was a beloved member of her community, and cherished by her family and friends.
Judy was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Wilmington before relocating to Georgetown. Her contributions to her community were extensive; she supported the Granite Corinthians Masonic Lodge #34 and Nur Shrine Center in New Castle, and volunteered at the Grand Opera House in Wilmington. In Georgetown, Judy was an active participant at the Cinderberry Community Center, where she made lasting friendships and touched many lives. Judy also had a passion for quilting and treasured the time spent with her grandchildren, which brought her the most immense joy.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Arvid Olaf and Elizabeth Catherine (Hardy) Johnson; her husband, Robert Joseph Lemley, who passed away in 1981; daughter, Catherine Ann Pepper; and sisters, Barbara K. Brooks and Linda J. Dewey.
She is survived by her lifetime companion, Fred Roland; daughter, Nancy J. Simpson (Corey); grandsons, Michael Sinnott (Michelle) and James Sinnott; and siblings, Kenneth W. Johnson (Helen), Deborah S. Short (Kevin), David H. Johnson, and Elizabeth C. Walls (Harvey). She also leaves behind her son-in-law, Eric Pepper; as well as brothers-in-law, Leonard J. Brooks and E. Wayne Dewey.
A time of visitation will be held from 12 to 1 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 17, at Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, with a funeral service to immediately follow at 1 p.m. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Shriners Children's Hospital, 3551 Broad St., Philadelphia, PA 19140.
