Judy Ann Widman, generous, loving soul

August 21, 2018

Judy Ann Widman of Lewes, formerly of Fremont, Ohio, died the early morning hours of June 24, 2018, in Harbor Healthcare Nursing Home in Lewes, after a year-long struggle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). She is preceded in death by her mother, Edna Rathfelder Widman Hoffert, and her father, James Raymond Widman.

Judy was a kind-hearted, generous, loving soul. Anyone who knew her, loved her. She enjoyed country music, arts and crafts, and ‘50s television. She especially loved being with family. Judy was among the first students of the inauguration of the School of Hope in Fremont, a school for the developmentally delayed. She was also among the first employees of the inauguration of Sandco Industries in Fremont, a sheltered workshop. She retired from Sandco in 2015. On October 31, 2017, her wish came true, and she moved to Delaware, to live permanently with her sister, Dianne L. Widman, and great- niece Zariah Abbott. Judy loved Zariah. No one could cheer her heart or make her smile as Zariah could.

Judy is survived by sisters Dianne L. Widman of Lewes and Christine M. Widman of Naples, Fla.; and brothers Ronald R. Widman of Fremont, James R. Widman Jr. of Fremont, David S. Widman of Tiffin Ohio, and Jeffrey C. Widman of Huron, Ohio. She leaves behind seven nieces and nephews; and nine great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visitation will be  Monday, Sept. 24, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Fremont, with a Memorial Service the following morning at 10 a.m., presided by Msgr. Kennth G. Morman of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Bellevue, Ohio. Judy's ashes will be interred with her mother in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Fremont.

The family requests that in lieu of the traditional black, family and friends wear colorful clothing. The family does not want to feel sad about Judy's sickness and passing. Instead, we wish to rejoice together in honor of the life she lived and the privilege of having known her.

The family wishes to publicly thank Harbor Healthcare in Lewes for their expert and loving care of Judy in her last months. Also, deep and heartfelt thanks go to Parsell Funeral Home and Crematorium in Lewes for so reverently and respectfully taking care of her upon her passing, and making the arrangements for her to have services in Fremont, where her family and friends reside.
