Keep Cape Henlopen State Park unsullied

November 15, 2022

I’ve been coming to Lewes and Rehoboth my entire life and have the most fond memories of Cape Henlopen State Park’s natural beauty, family friendliness and careful maintenance. It’s hard to find seashore on the Atlantic coastline that is so unspoiled and easily available – one of the finest beaches I know of.

Adding a commercial eating venture right by the beach is an awful idea in so many ways. The noise, customers, trash, violation of the park’s very purpose are all solid reasons not to do this. Last time I was there, I saw the Delaware beaches had been given special recognition for their high quality and respect for the environment.

Delaware is seeing tremendous growth in its lower counties thanks to Route 1 as well as the huge housing developments everywhere on what was once farmlands. Will the First State go the way of Florida?

Please keep Cape Henlopen State Park as it is. Seeing all the families enjoying what it has to offer now is a rare joy. Don’t let greed get in the way of keeping this area for the people of Delaware (and D.C., Pennsylvania, Maryland, etc.) unsullied.
