Separation anxiety prevailed at the start of the Labor Day Prediction 5K Run Sept. 4 at Grove Park in Rehoboth Beach. There were no watches or GPS devices allowed. Even pacemakers and metronomes had to be cleared by the race director.

Martin Rodriguez ran the fastest overall time in 18:29, followed by Jimmy Rubin in 19:14 and Jeff Smith in 19:19.

Susan Dunn was the fastest woman at 22:37, followed by Alison Juneau in 23:20 and Margaret Colvin in 24:06.

Altogether, there were 90 runners in the race.

The top three predictors were Eric Nutto with a predicted time of 23:00 and race time 22:59.21; Aydan Vanderwende (21:30.92 and 21:30) and Cindy Dominick (31:09.41 and 31:08).

The next Seashore Striders event is the eighth annual Run, White and Blue 5K at 6 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 9, at Delaware Tech in Georgetown.
