Laura Timmons, family matriarch

March 14, 2023

Laura "LT" Timmons of Lewes passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 8, 2023,  surrounded by her family.

Laura was one of the most resilient women to ever walk this earth. The family was truly blessed to have her as the Timmons family matriarch. Being the fearless woman that she was, she persevered through every challenge in her life with courage and dignity. She was the family’s biggest cheerleader, nurturer and constant supporter. She was also a source of inspiration to the Timmons family. The family would not be where they are today if they didn’t have the support and will of Laura. She will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives she touched.

Laura met Christopher Timmons and together they went on to have 11 children. She was a wonderful and loving mother who gave her all to her family. They will never be able to fill the space left behind by her.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Christopher Timmons; sisters, Rosa Lee Harrison and Lula Mae Sanchez; brothers, Robert Smith, Freddy Smith, Morris Smith Sr. and Ulysses Smith Sr.; daughters, Lorraine Timmons and Marjorie Timmons; and sons, Gordon Page, Joseph Timmons and Charles Timmons.

She is survived by brothers, Ellison Smith and James Smith (Ernestine); daughters, Cynthia Timmons Gray and Ann Armstrong (Steven); sons, Dalton Page (Angelica), James Timmons, Timothy Timmons (Sheryl) and Marvin Timmons. She is deeply loved by 25 grandkids and a host of great-grandkids, along with close friends of the family.

A Home Going Service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, March 17, at Friendship Baptist Church, 500 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way, Lewes, with a viewing from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
