The 39th annual statewide Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Delaware took place June 11, bringing together nearly 800 law enforcement officers from across the state to carry the Flame of Hope in honor of the athletes of Special Olympics Delaware.
The flame will make its way to the University of Delaware for the opening ceremony of the Special Olympics Delaware Summer Games, which begin Friday, June 13, and continue Saturday, June 14.
The Torch Run is a symbol of hope, inclusion and community. Officers honor the strength and determination of Special Olympics athletes while helping ensure that Delaware athletes continue to enjoy opportunities to grow in skill, confidence and friendship.
