I would like to second the opinion voiced by Wesley Paulson, executive director of Clear Space, regarding summer meter parking in downtown Rehoboth Beach.
Last summer we had tickets for a show at Clear Space, so we decided to have dinner at one of the nearby restaurants beforehand. We parked near the theater.
After dinner, I attempted to put more time on the meter but couldn’t due to meter restrictions, so I had to then search for a second parking space, in a different zone, quite a distance from the theater. Because of the parking inconvenience, we decided that in the future we would forgo dinner downtown before a show.
Government always seems to ignore or dismiss the law of unintended consequences, but parking restrictions do in fact hurt our local businesses.
