Lewes in Bloom plants garden for floral art exhibition in Italy
June 2, 2019
A delegation of Lewes in Bloom volunteers recently traveled to Cervia, Italy, to design and plant a garden representing Delaware.
The Cervia Città Giardino is the biggest open-air floral art exhibition in Europe. Cervia is known as the Garden City of Europe. This is the first time a U.S. city has been invited to participate in the festival in its 47-year history.
Lewes won the Communities in Bloom International Challenge as the most beautiful medium-sized city in the world in 2018. Lewes in Bloom members planted the garden over three days, and then joined the main celebration of all gardens and gardeners.
