January 26, 2026

Editor’s note: Due to the winter storm, the City of Lewes has postponed the inaugural State of the Community forum, originally set for 5 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 27, at Lewes Elementary School. The forum will now be held Tuesday, Feb. 17, at the same time and location.

Lewes Mayor and City Council will host its very first State of the Community Forum from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 17, at Lewes Elementary School, 820 Savannah Road, Lewes.

City of Lewes stakeholders, in partnership with leaders from the University of Delaware, Beebe Healthcare and the Cape Henlopen School District, will present their 2026 institutional priorities, reveal joint strategic goals, and discuss how and why collaboration is key to building sustainable growth and a healthy community.

Lewes Mayor Amy Marasco said, “Our community story is written by all of us. This inaugural event is an opportunity to demonstrate our shared vision of collaboration, progress and resiliency. I look forward to joining with my community colleagues for this chance to learn, listen and share our voices with the greater community, and to have some fun! I am very pleased that the leaders of the University of Delaware, Beebe Healthcare and the Cape Henlopen School District have agreed to participate in this event.”

More details will be shared in coming weeks. Those interested in attending may RSVP by emailing sotc2026@ci.lewes.de.us. Zoom instructions will be published at a later date for anyone who wants to attend virtually.
