Lewes Community Garden seeks work day volunteers Nov. 16

November 12, 2019

Lewes Community Garden organizers are seeking volunteers to assist with a bed build and cleanup day at 9 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 16. The rain date is Sunday, Nov. 17.

The garden is on Park Road between the University of Delaware wind turbine and Lewes Unleashed dog park. No gardening experience is necessary.

General-use items to bring include cordless drills, levels, wheelbarrows, shovels and pitchforks. Participants should bring their own gloves, bug repellent, water and snacks, and wear closed-toe shoes.

During the summer, members and volunteers gathered on weekends to harvest and donate produce to the Rehoboth Community Resource Center and Village Volunteers. The harvest included yellow squash, green peppers, okra, beans, kale, tomatoes, melons, eggplant and cucumbers.

Donations are always welcome. For more information, go to www.LewesCommunityGarden.org or email LewesCommunityGarden@gmail.com.
