Lewes farmers market program receives $10,000 grant

February 20, 2026

The Historic Lewes Farmers Market has been awarded a $10,000 grant from the Acme Markets Foundation.

Funds will be used for the HLFM Food Pantry Purchase Program, which buys fresh fruit, vegetables, meat and eggs from small farmers to be delivered to local distribution partners, giving families in need access to fresh food.

Since 2021, the program has provided the Epworth United Methodist Church food ministry with almost $90,000 worth of fresh food through direct farmer purchases, customer donations and farmer donations.

The Acme Markets Foundation, part of the national Albertsons Companies Foundation, funds organizations that strengthen the neighborhoods they serve by supporting nutrition, health, youth and education.
