Lewes library invites children to morning story time

August 16, 2018

Lewes Public Library hosts a weekly garden story time Monday morning at 10 a.m. for local kids and families outside the Lewes in Bloom Children’s Learning Garden. Jennifer Noonan, Children’s Services librarian, kickstarts the morning gathering with a sing-along before reading the first of two books, “To Market, To Market” by Anne Miranda.

The book explains what it takes to create a flourishing garden, a theme that teaches children that hard work, dedication and patience are imperative for growing a garden of their own.

Following the reading was the opportunity to go into the Children’s Learning Garden, hosted by volunteers from Lewes in Bloom. “We have squash, zucchini, cucumber, basil and chives all for the kids to pick themselves and take home,” said Lewes in Bloom volunteer Cindy De Emedio.

Asher Weiss took a particular liking to the cucumber section, where he picked his own, bit into it, and was perfectly content eating it whole.
