Lewes man charged in shooting in parking lot
A Lewes man faces charges after police say he fired shots Aug. 4 at a car in the parking lot of Mr. P’s Pizza in Lewes.
Troopers responded at 11:04 p.m. to a report of a shooting at 1004 Kings Hwy., where they learned that an 18-year-old man had driven to the restaurant to pick up two girls, 16 and 17, when he saw Elijah Bush, 20, wearing a ski mask and talking to one of the girls. As one of the girls got into the car, police said, Bush pulled out a gun and fired several shots, striking the vehicle as it left the parking lot. No one was injured, police said.
Bush was taken into custody a short time later without incident. He was taken to Troop 7, and charged with possession of a firearm by a person under 21, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, three counts first-degree reckless endangering, wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony and criminal mischief under $1,000. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $52,100 cash bond.
