Lewes man faces charges in three-vehicle crash near Angola
A Lewes man faces vehicular assault and DUI charges following a three-vehicle crash Oct. 31 near Angola.
The crash happened about 3:45 p.m. when a Cadillac CT4 was traveling eastbound on Hollymount Road near Scottie Run, police said, and it crossed into the westbound lane, sideswiping a Durango driven by a Georgetown woman, 32, and then striking the front of a Charger traveling westbound behind the Durango. The driver of the Charger, a Laurel woman, 26, was flown to a hospital with serious injuries.
Police said they contacted the driver of the Cadillac, Timothy Wolak, 64, of Lewes, and saw signs of impairment. Wolak was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries, police said, and a blood search warrant was obtained.
The Georgetown woman was not injured. The roadway was closed for about one hour while the scene was investigated and cleared.
After his release from the hospital, police said, Wolak turned himself in Nov. 3 at Troop 7, where he was charged with first-degree vehicular assault, driving under the influence of alcohol, and traffic offenses. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3, and released on a $3,101 unsecured bond.
