Marasco meets with nursing team amid surge in flu cases
January 23, 2026

Lewes Mayor Amy Marasco met with Beebe Healthcare nurses and leadership in the early morning of Jan. 15.

Marasco went in response to a request from a nurse who said she was a fan of the mayor and thought a visit might boost morale amid a surging number of flu cases.

As a thank-you, Marasco said, she brought the nurses a box of chocolates and a basket of clementines.

The mayor said her tour included a firsthand look at Beebe’s new Epic patient-centered health record system and other technology.

“I was happy to visit to personally let them know how much we appreciate their care. We all know that the services of Beebe are critical to the health, wellness and longevity of our residents. I was struck by the welcoming nature of the hospital and hospital staff, and the sense of order, calmness and compassion that was evident in every hallway I walked down and every medical staff person that I had the pleasure of engaging with,” Marasco wrote in a statement after her visit.

Marasco was joined by Kathleen Tregear, RN, senior vice president of nursing operations and chief nursing executive; David Tam, MD, president and CEO; and Diane Taylor, senior vice president, chief strategy officer and chief of staff. Shown are (l-r) Tregear, Tam, Marasco and Taylor.
