Lewes Senior Activity Center seeks instructors to start in August

When the expansion and renovation of the Lewes Senior Activity Center is complete, the center will use the additional space to offer more programs for active seniors.

Executive Director Dennis Nealen is looking for instructors who would like teach at the center or lead programs. The goal is to provide classes beginning in August, geared toward adults 50 years or older.The expanded center will feature a second large multipurpose room, an upgraded exercise room, a game room, and a comfortable, centrally located lounge where its members can gather to have coffee, play cards or just chat.

The center, located at 32083 Janice Road in Lewes, promotes health and wellness for seniors, offering fitness and exercise classes, arts and crafts classes, social get-togethers, affordable travel and community service opportunities for its members.

Classes and activities currently offered include yoga, tai chi, balance and strength training, walk aerobics, line dancing, Zumba, ceramics, penny bingo, jackpot bingo and games including mahjong, canasta, pinochle and Scrabble.
