Sisters DeAnna Poling and Deb Hansen of Lewes visited Lewes in Sussex County, England, during a recent UK trip. The charming village features a Norman castle, a lively town center, and flint cottages built from local Sussex flint, a hallmark of the region’s architecture. While there, they met Ross Peddicord, a new friend who had recently moved to Lewes—the First Town in the First State. He had arrived in February, making the connection abroad all the more unexpected.
