Lewes/Rehoboth Major All-Stars fall to Lower Sussex

The Lewes/Rehoboth Major League All-Stars dropped a 7-2 decision to Lower Sussex July 10 at the Millsboro Little League complex.

Trent Kaufman went 1-for-2 at the plate with a double and a walk and a run scored. Jameson Tingle went 1-for-1 with a single, a hit by a pitch, and he scored a run. Brady Kosc was 1-for-3 with a single and an RBI. Patrick Donahue was 1-for-3 with a single and an RBI.

Kauffman started the game on the mound, pitching two scoreless innings, striking out five. He reached the 65-pitch limit in the third inning. Donahue came in from the bullpen and threw 20 pitches. Kosc also pitched 20 pitches for Lewes/Rehoboth, striking out two.

“Lawson Whalen had a great defensive play in left field,” said coach Stephen Kosc. “He gunned a ball to Miles Godwin at the plate to save a run.”

Lower Sussex’s Dylan Bunting blasted a grand slam to break a 1-1 game wide open. 

Lewes/Rehoboth dropped into the lower bracket of the double-elimination tournament, where they were slated to play again July 11 in Millsboro. 

Lower Sussex advances in the tournament and was set to play the winner of Millsboro and Nanticoke July 11 at Woodbridge Little League.  

The tournament runs through July 15 or 16, with the winner advancing to the state tournament in New Castle.

Press Association. A Delaware native, Dan graduated from Cape in 1972 and returned as a teacher and coach in the 1980s. He retired from the classroom in 2016. He was inducted into Cape High’s Legends Stadium in 2016. In his spare time, Dan enjoys spending time with his wife, two sons, grandchildren and dogs.
