August 6, 2022

Coastal-area favorite Libby York will perform Tuesday, Aug. 9, with Mike McShane and Joe Holt at The Room at Cedar Grove near Lewes. The event, which benefits the nonprofit Paul Kares, includes a four-course wine dinner.

York, an internationally known jazz singer, is the former owner of The Back Porch Café in Rehoboth Beach. She left the hospitality business to pursue her passion.

“Libby is an enigmatic performer,” said musician-chef Paul Cullen, who founded The Room at Cedar Grove and co-founded Paul Kares, which supports aspiring musicians and hospitality-industry professionals.

“The fact that she has such a strong connection to the beach is a plus,” he said. “Our guests love to welcome her back; they know they’re always in for a treat.”

An accomplished performer, York has appeared at The Kitano, Waldorf Astoria and Metropolitan Room in New York City; the Green Mill, Jazz Showcase and Winter’s Jazz Club in Chicago; and venues in Los Angeles, the Netherlands, Vancouver, B.C., and Cafe Laurent, Paris.

Tickets are $75 each, and profits from events at The Room at Cedar Grove benefit Paul Kares. The fee includes the concert, meal and wine but not gratuity. The event runs from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. To purchase tickets, visit paulcullen.rocks/events.
