Library says thank you for Loopin’ event support

August 10, 2018

Despite a threatening weather forecast, the Lewes Public Library's 2nd Annual Loopin' for the Library Recreational Bike Ride on Saturday, July 21 was a huge, and fun, success. With 256 registered riders of all ages, the ride netted over $10,000. As an independent library, every year the Lewes Public Library must raise over $300,000 through fundraisers such as this to continue its mission of serving the greater Lewes community.

As with any endeavor of this sort, it took a lot of time, energy and community support to make this success possible. The Lewes Public Library would like to take this opportunity to thank the event's Signature Sponsors: Jack Lingo Realtor and Schell Brothers for their generous support. Also the Gold Sponsors: Dogfish Head, Cape Gazette, and IG Burton & Company; the Silver Sponsors: Lotus Chiropractic, Shore View Medical, Orthopaedic Associates of Southern Delaware, and RISE Fitness & Adventure; our Bronze Sponsors: Kids Cottage, Surf Bagel, and Big Red Truck Digital as well as Lewes Cycle Sports for the snazzy kid's bike that was raffled.

Thank you also to Two Dips Ice Cream, Ray Daminger Design, and Print Promo Coast 2 Coast. And a big shout-out to Tim Bamforth of Seashore Striders whose expertise in managing the ride logistics and keeping things moving made the entire event run smoothly.

A very special thank you to all of the library staff and volunteers who worked on the committee, helped set up and run the event, and donated delicious food, beverages and supplies - the Lewes Public Library could not operate without you. Following the popularity of this family-friendly event, the library is sure bike enthusiasts will be looking forward to participating in 2019.

Lea Rosell
Lewes Public Library Director
