Lina Marie (Abate) Edmonds, had career in banking

Lina Marie (Abate) Edmonds, 59, of Millsboro, passed away unexpectedly from a brain aneurysm Thursday, Sept. 28, 2017, at Christiana Care Health Systems, in Newark, surrounded in love by her family. She was born Friday, Nov. 22, 1957, in Arnold, Pa., daughter to Mary (Muto) Abate of Lower Burrell, Pa., and the late John Abate.

Lina graduated from Burrell High School class of 1975. She received her degree in data processing and business administration from Robert Morris College in 1977 and went on to the University of Pittsburgh where she studied and received her degree in computer science and business administration in 1980.

Lina was ambitious and dedicated. She started her career at Mellon Bank as a secretary/administrative assistant and worked her way to quality management center manger, serving 20 years from 1977 until 1997. She then worked another 20 years at JP Morgan Chase as the operational risk and control director from 1997 to 2017. Her latest business adventure was working at Darian Rowayton Bank as the enterprise risk executive.

In her spare time, Lina enjoyed walking her dogs on the beach and cooking, but most of all she loved spending time with her family. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend who will be dearly missed.

In addition to her father, Lina was preceded in death by her grandparents. In addition to her mother, Lina is survived by her husband, Brad Edmonds, of Millsboro; her daughter Emily Edmonds-Eveland and her husband Jamison of Middletown; her brother, Louis Abate of Lower Burrell; and many cousins.

A Funeral Service will be held Friday, Oct. 6, at 3 p.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where family and friends may come beginning at 2 p.m. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Glen Highland Farm, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the rescue of abandoned Border Collies, 217 Pegg Road, Morris, NY 13808. Your donation, in her name, will be slated for the Senior Sanctuary where abandoned seniors can live out their lives in good health with great happiness.
