Lincoln man latest charged in Slaughter Beach shooting

A Lincoln man, 21, is the latest to be charged in the June 12 shooting in Slaughter Beach that left one man injured.

Deonte King turned himself in July 17 in connection with a shooting at a pavilion behind the Slaughter Beach Memorial Volunteer Fire Co. Police said several masked people showed up at the party and began shooting at partygoers before fleeing in a Honda Accord. A Dover man, 32, was shot and taken to an area hospital where he was treated and released for a gunshot to his lower extremity.

King was charged with first-degree assault, 10 counts possession of firearm during the commission of a felony, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, nine counts first-degree reckless endangering and second-degree conspiracy. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $234,500 cash.

Arrested earlier were Tyree Johnson, 19, of Harrington, and Tymere Harmon, 22, of Dover. Harmon was arrested June 20 during a traffic stop in Dover, and he was charged with first-degree assault, 10 counts possession of firearm during the commission of a felony, and second-degree conspiracy. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to SCI in default of $101,000 cash.

On June 25, members of the Kent County Governor’s Task Force spotted Johnson walking with a black satchel across his upper body on West Street in Harrington. Detectives attempted to make contact with Johnson, who fled behind an apartment complex. While fleeing, police said, Johnson discarded the black bag, and ran into a building. Johnson finally followed verbal commands, police said, and exited the building, where he was taken into custody.

Police said a loaded Glock 17 firearm, an extended magazine and ammunition were in the satchel. Johnson was taken to Troop 3 where he was charged with  first-degree assault, 10 counts possession of firearm during the commission of a felony, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, nine counts first-degree reckless endangering, two counts carrying a concealed firearm, second-degree conspiracy, resisting arrest, second-degree criminal trespass, and possession of a large capacity magazine. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and committed to SCI  in default of $598,100 cash bond.
