Little Vikings celebrates Fire Prevention Month with Lewes Fire Department

October 25, 2021
The Sussex Consortium Preschool, Little Vikings, kicked off Fire Prevention Month in October by arranging a visit from Lewes Fire Department Inc.

LFD members brought a fire truck to the Sussex Consortium for the 3- and 4-year-old preschool classes to explore. With assistance from teachers and staff, students checked out the inside of the truck, sat in the cabin and touched the truck’s equipment.

“We are so thankful the fire department was able to visit our school to teach our kids the importance of fire safety,” said Carri Davis, Little Vikings paraeducator. “The preschoolers are always so excited when this day comes!”

The special visit concluded with each student receiving a red plastic fire helmet along with a coloring book and crayons. Students will continue to learn fire safety within each of their classrooms throughout the month of October.
