Local dancer part of winning duo at ballroom competition

World-class ballroom dance professional Rene Ostarek and his partner Lewes resident Barbara Rynkowski recently took top honors at the American Star Ball in Atlantic City, N.J.
Ostarek and Rynkowski started the day with the American Smooth dances which include waltz, tango, foxtrot and the crowd favorite, Viennese waltz.
The couple received gold medals and quickly changed from gown and tuxedo to sexy Latin costumes for the international cha cha, samba, rumba, paso doble, and the quick footwork of the jive. Their No. 127 was lucky. The duo was awarded frst place in every dance category.
