Local Genesis Healthcare honored for Alzheimer’s walk fundraising

May 2, 2018

Genesis Healthcare at Lofland Park Center in Seaford was honored by the national office April 20.

For many years now, team captain Dolores Timmons and administrator Tawnya Dennis have organized a team for the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s held in Rehoboth Beach. For three of the last four years, their Lofland Park Team raised more money than any of the other 449 Genesis facilities throughout the nation.

For the Rehoboth Walk held Sept. 30, 2017, the team raised $14,117, and nationally, Genesis HealthCare teams raised over $222,000 in their efforts to support the Alzheimer’s Association vision of a world without Alzheimer’s.

Dennis was on the original volunteer committee that organized the first walk in Rehoboth in 1997, and she has been instrumental in the success of the walk throughout the years. She chaired the 2017 Rehoboth walk, which exceeded its overall goal, raising more than $153,900.

Rehoboth Walk to End Alzheimer’s 2018 is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 29, at Grove Park in Rehoboth Beach, and registration is open online at www.alz.org/delval
