Local girls fare well at lacrosse all-star game

June 12, 2025

The Cape connection lacrosse all-stars helped to lead the White team past the Blue squad 14-13 in the annual USA Lacrosse Senior All-Star Game at the DE Turf complex June 10.

Macy Steinwedel, Abigail Schaeffer and Quinn Nutter each played a part in the victory. Steinwedel tallied four goals, while Nutter hit the twine once. Schaeffer made nine saves in her half of play in the cage.

“It’s sort of sad knowing this is the last time we’re playing together,” said Nutter. “I’m going to miss these girls.”

With White up 14-13 and 30 seconds left on the clock, Schaeffer made a one-on-one save to preserve the victory.

“It was fun to play against everyone from the different teams in this setting,” said Schaeffer. ”There isn’t any high pressure and everyone has fun.”

Sussex Academy’s Emiley Bisaha hit for a goal, while Savannah Montgomery played tough defense for the Blue team.

“It’s always great lacrosse when you have everybody playing together for the love of the sport,” said White team coach Gina Voss, current Caesar Rodney coach and former Cape player.
