Local nursing nonprofit welcomes new board members
Nurses & Neighbors Collaborative Inc. welcomes Bonnie Perratto, MSN, MBA, RN, NEA-BC, FACHE, and Ron Laxton, DNP, MSN, RN, to its 2024 board of directors.
Formerly known as Nurses Nextdoor Inc., Nurses & Neighbors Collaborative is a 501c3 nonprofit with the mission to improve health and wellness within local neighborhoods through nurse-led programs. Since its founding in 2022, Nurses & Neighbors has used its members’ collective nursing experience to work with the homeless, volunteer in vaccination clinics, present health information to community groups and serve as volunteer nurses in partnership with community-based organizations. Nurses & Neighbors is a 2023 AARP Community Challenge grantee, and it's the only nursing group selected from a national pool of 3,600 applications.
Perratto, a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, retired from Bayhealth as senior vice president and chief nurse executive. Her nursing career includes executive roles at healthcare institutions in Ohio and New York. She currently serves as a magnet appraiser for the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Magnet Recognition Programs. Perratto received her master of science degree in nursing from the University of Phoenix and master of business from Adelphi University.
Laxton is a distinguished healthcare professional with a career spanning more than 40 years. Throughout his extensive journey, he has held several pivotal leadership roles, contributing significantly to the field of nursing and healthcare. Laxton most recently served as chief nurse and allied service executive at the George Washington University Medical Faculty Associates in Washington, D.C. He earned his doctor of nursing practice degree from the University of Nevada-Reno and master of science in nursing and bachelor of science in nursing degrees from Marymount University in Arlington, Va.
