Local teachers pursuing master’s programs may apply for scholarships by March 15

The Village Improvement Association is awarding two $5,000 scholarships toward master’s degrees in education.

The scholarships are funded by the Lowe II Foundation. Applications are due Friday, March 15.

Scholarship applicants must be employed by the Cape Henlopen School District or the Sussex Technical School District, and currently enrolled in an education-related master’s degree program at an accredited university. At least six credit hours must have been earned by March 15. Administrative and counseling programs are excluded.

Candidates must complete an application, include official copies of undergraduate and graduate transcripts, and provide two letters of recommendation, one each from a current administrator and a current professor or advisor. All awards are given without discrimination as to race, sex or creed.

The scholarships recipients will be announced at the VIA Spring Luncheon Wednesday, May 8.
