Local women team up to start home care business

June 19, 2025

In a heartwarming example of entrepreneurship with a purpose, two locally born and raised women have launched a new home care business dedicated to offering comprehensive, personalized care for individuals and their families. With a heart for service and a passion for dignity-driven support, the founders aim to ease the burdens often faced by those caring for aging or disabled loved ones.

Motivated by their own caregiving experiences and the desire to give back, Helen Catts and Margaret McClure began planning Home Helpers LLC with a mission to prioritize kindness, cultural sensitivity and continuity of care while providing companion care services to Sussex County and surrounding areas.

The idea was born during the pandemic, when the women — with various caring capacities — witnessed the toll that caregiving was taking on families, especially when services were unreliable or inconsistent. After sharing their own experiences, frustrations and a vision for doing things differently, they realized they could create something better.

“We knew the need was there because we lived it,” said McClure. “We were caring for our parents, grandparents and neighbors, and constantly running into the same problems — missed appointments, no-shows from agencies, lack of communication. We wanted to build a service that treated clients like family and gave their actual family real peace of mind.”

What sets Home Helpers LLC apart is its holistic approach to care. In addition to traditional non-medical services such as companionship, assistance with daily activities, meal preparation and light housekeeping, the company offers full-service home management and care coordination.

“We don’t just care for the individual; we care for the whole person and their family,” said Catts. “From scheduling doctors’ appointments and implementing safety systems in the home, to organizing the household and managing daily routines, we take care of the details so families can focus on spending meaningful time with their loved ones.”

With a dependable team and system in place, the company guarantees coverage and continuity, eliminating the common worry of caregiver call-outs or gaps in care.

While Home Helpers LLC may be a premium service, the founders are proud to say their clients receive unmatched value.

“Our rates reflect the quality, professionalism and reliability we provide,” said Catts. “You get what you pay for — and we do it all. When families partner with us, they’re not just getting companion care; they’re getting a team that manages the whole picture.”

Currently accepting new clients and hiring caregivers from the local community, Home Helpers LLC is quickly building a reputation for excellence, warmth and trust.

“This business is personal for us,” said McClure. “We started it because we care, and that’s exactly how we run it.”
