Locally owned Hydroshield of Delmarva a top dealer

Protect new homes iwith eco-friendly sealants
April 13, 2020

Since 2015, John and Denise Bateman, and their two sons Ben and Mike, have operated Hydroshield of Delmarva with the mission of providing surface protection services to homeowners across the peninsula. After John’s family sold Boulevard Auto Sales, the Sussex County natives searched for small business opportunities. They aren’t the type of people to retire early.

John stumbled on a franchise opportunity with a company that excited him – Hydroshield. After some additional research, meetings and training, they knew they had found the business that would keep their entrepreneur spirits happy. After just a few years with the company, the Batemans and Hydroshield Delmarva are one of the top dealers in the nation.

Prior to helping run Hydroshield of Delmarva full time, Denise worked as a banking officer in the financial services industry until 2019. The Batemans’ sons are both University of Delaware graduates; Mike works full time for the family business, while Ben operates Dorey & Bateman Business Solutions LLC. Hydroshield of Delmarva was an opportunity for each member of the family (even the family yellow labs, Kendel and Oakley) to work together.

Hydroshield is a surface protection system designed to create a smooth, stain-proof barrier that’s easy to clean. The product reaches down into the microscopic pores of home finishes and binds at the surface. This ensures that spills don’t sink into the surfaces, thus preventing stains. People who want to protect their new home investments with eco-friendly and guaranteed sealants know to call Hydroshield of Delmarva.

The Batemans also deal with older homes too. Homeowners can save hundreds, if not, thousands, restoring and sealing their home surfaces rather than undergoing a lengthy and expensive restoration project. The Batemans take pride in providing total home protection to their clients, from window glass to countertops to shower enclosures, they do it all.

“We are very proud of the fact that a lot of our business comes from referrals from current clients. It makes us very happy to know that our clients are extremely pleased with our service and our products. We are proud of the fact that a lot of our clients have become friends. We also believe that our customer service is a lot of what makes us HydroShield. We enjoy helping people maintain their surfaces and keep their homes beautiful,” said John. “I think the three most important things about running a business are integrity, knowing who to have in your wheelhouse for support, and following through on what you say.”

When they aren’t in the office or at a job site, the Batemans enjoy taking advantage of all of Delmarva’s best outdoor activities. They love golfing, hunting, fishing and going to the beach as a family. Some of their favorite local restaurants are 1776 Steakhouse, Eden Restaurant, Pig & Publican and Mr. P's Pizza. The whole family is active in the local community, and all are proud of their Sussex County roots.
