Louis Henry Jones, veteran, devout Christian

Louis Henry Jones, 90, of Lewes, passed away Sunday, Feb. 22, 2026, at his residence with his family by his side. He was born Jan. 25, 1936, in Lancaster, Pa., son of the late William and Florence Foernsler Jones.

Louis worked for more than 30 years as a retail sales assistant manager for Sears, Roebuck and Co. in the Lancaster, Pa. area prior to retiring to the shore with his wife, Anna Mae Lefever Jones, who preceded him in death in 2014. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Anna Foernsler Spencer and William Jones formerly of Lancaster.

He was a proud four-year veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he had served on a submarine as a cryptographer.

During his entire life, he was a devoted Christian and served his church in many capacities, both in the Lancaster area and at the shore. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Rehoboth Beach, where he also served as an elder for many years.

He is survived by two daughters, Karen S. Myers of Lewes, and Kay S. Jones of Lancaster, Pa.; two grandchildren, Ian M. Myers of Lancaster, and Aaron M. Myers (Michelle) of Marietta, Pa.; and two great-grandchildren, Grayson M. Myers and Brayden A. Myers.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 7, at The Lutheran Church of Our Savior, 20276 Bay Vista Road, Rehoboth Beach, where friends and family may visit beginning at 10 a.m. A luncheon will follow the services at the church.
