Love Creek hosts inaugural student-led art show
The Love Creek Elementary School gymnasium was transformed into a Night at the Art Museum April 15 for students and families to enjoy.
Each student at Love Creek contributed a 2D painting or drawing to be displayed on the walls or one of the tables, creating an immersive presentation of shapes and colors.
“The students were very excited to see their work on display,” said Forest Allread, Love Creek Elementary art teacher. “The event created a wonderful opportunity to celebrate and showcase our student’s talents with their friends, families and the staff here at Love Creek.”
Supplies for the clay work were made possible by a Cape Henlopen Educational Foundation grant submitted by Allread earlier this year. “We are so grateful to have an organization like CHEF be able to contribute and help make this event possible,” he said. “It’s my hope to make this a yearly tradition for our students.”
The Love Creek Elementary Parent Teacher Organization had an active role in the planning and execution of the event.
“The Love Creek PTO is grateful to Mr. Allread, the Related Arts team and our parent volunteers for working tirelessly to make this event a success,” said Cindy Melaccio, LCE PTO officer. “Families don’t always get to see the amazing things our students do in school, and this was a wonderful opportunity for them to show off their beautiful and hard work.”
