Luise A. Davies, cherished her family
Luise A. Davies, 100, of Georgetown, was taken home to her Lord Sunday, June 12, 2022, peacefully at home surrounded by family and loved ones. Luise was born Aug. 3, 1921, in Westfield, N.J., to Hattie and Warner Frickman.
As a child, Luise enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved the beach and was a talented artist from a very young age. She enjoyed these passions throughout her life. After high school, Luise joined the U.S. Marine Corps, where she went on to serve her country as a corporal.
In the summer of 1944, while on leave, she was spending the day at the beach in Nags Head, N.C., where she met Ensign H. Chandler Davies of the U.S. Navy. The two were inseparable from that point on. They were married just a few short months later, and continued life together to celebrate over 68 years of marriage until his passing in 2012. They went on to have five children, Diane, Donna, Susan, Robert and John. Luise was a dedicated and loving wife and mother who gave all to her family and filled their home with unconditional love. Faith and family came first and were above all else to her, a value that she instilled in her children and grandchildren. She was one of the most loving, kind and generous women to ever walk this earth, and her family feels blessed to have had her in their lives. The space left by her absence will be impossible to fill; however, her family will honor her by continuing to instill these values in generations to come.
Luise was preceded in death by her loving husband, H. Chandler Davies; her parents, Hattie and Warner Frickman; her daughters, Donna Brown and Susan LaPorte; and her sister, Elizabeth Jones. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Richard Greenberg; sons, Robert and John Davies; her brother, W. Edward Frickman. Luise is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 5 ½ great-great-grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews.
