Lullaby event benefits St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
Lullaby preschool students ages 3-5 studied bike safety and practiced riding on their backyard bike trail in preparation for Pedal for a Purpose, the school’s most anticipated event this year.
Over the past month, Lullaby students and families gathered donations that were sent directly to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Sponsorships on behalf of Lullaby’s small bike riders totaled over $7,000, and students were happy to contribute to the extraordinary medical expenses St. Jude patient families face every day.
Families, friends and community members gathered May 17 to support the 56 Lullaby students who pedaled in their partnership with St. Jude. Deeply touched by the stories of children battling cancer at St. Jude, Lullaby team members were eager to help. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is leading the way in which the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer. Families of St. Jude never receive a bill, allowing them to focus solely on helping their children get well.
Former Lullaby student Arden MacPhee and her battle with childhood cancer provided much motivation. Arden’s mother, Tray Sullivan, shared her family’s experiences as Arden fought and won not one, but two tough battles with cancer. Joined by brother Jameson and father Ryan, Arden rode the track herself at this event held in her honor.
Lullaby Learning Center offers care and education to children from birth through age 5, and provides a preschool program to prepare students for kindergarten. Lullaby’s property in Harbeson just west of the Route 5-Route 9 intersection is home to a new school building and gymnasium, and two acres of outdoor space, all dedicated to the school’s students and learning.
