The Lung Force Walk brought together people to help end lung cancer Oct. 19 at the Rehoboth Beach Bandstand. The walk is a fundraising event for the American Lung Association, and is held annually in Rehoboth Beach to support lung cancer research, education and advocacy.
The event is supported by participants walking in honor or memory of loved ones, with some participants sharing personal stories of triumph over or loss to lung disease. More than $18,000 was raised from this year’s walk.
Nearly 60 people took part in the walk, which started at the Rehoboth Bandstand and proceeded north on the Boardwalk to the Henlopen Hotel, back south to the southernmost point of the boards, and back to the bandstand. The walk covered nearly 2 miles.
Teams like Sentman Strong, led by Shelley Perry, and Warriors Never Quit, led by Cristina Kalesse, have been integral to the success of the Lung Force Rehoboth walk, partnering with the American Lung Association to drive fundraising and planning efforts. Other teams, including Eddie Spagetti, The Respiratory Avengers, and God's Breath, have also contributed to this year's remarkable achievement of raising over $18,000 to help end lung cancer.
