Beebe Healthcare will host the Lyme Disease Education Oversight Board's second annual Lyme Aware Delaware Conference at 8:30 a.m., Friday, Oct. 17, at Delaware Tech’s Carter Partnership Center, 21179 College Drive, Georgetown.
State and national experts will share their knowledge of Lyme disease and other tick-borne illnesses, including alpha-gal syndrome, anaplasmosis, babesiosis, ehrlichiosis and Rocky Mountain spotted fever. The latest Delaware-specific research on tick-borne pathogens will be presented, and a tick identification station, led by Ashley Kennedy, Delaware’s lead tick biologist, will offer a look at preserved local tick specimens and their life stages.
The hybrid conference is for Delaware healthcare providers only and will offer the options of in-person or virtual attendance. The event is not open to the public. The free event will focus on Lyme and tick-borne diseases and Delaware-specific research, and will offer up to seven-and-a-half continuing medical education credits to participants.
