The magic carpet ride continues

October 28, 2022

The Philadelphia Phillies will play the Houston Astros in the World Series starting on Friday. In order for the Phillies to have any chance to win this series, they have to win one of the first two games in Houston since Aaron Nola and Zack Wheeler will be pitching. The next three games will be in Philadelphia, Monday through Wednesday. Frankly, I think the whole pitching staff has to pitch out of their minds for the whole series. If the Phillies can pull off the series victory, it will be one of the biggest upsets in baseball history by comparison of regular season records since the Phillies only won 87 games in the regular season and the Astros won 106. Go Phillies!

The Philadelphia 76ers are off to a very slow start this season. Their record is 1-4. I hope they can get back to a .500 or better record as fast as possible. If they don’t, there will be a big hill to climb to make the playoffs and it’s not even Thanksgiving. The reason why this start is so confusing is because they have three very talented players in Joel Embiid, James Harden and Tyrese Maxey. Going into this season, there were high expectations for this team. I hope they can live up to them.

The Eagles come out of their bye week as the only undefeated team left in the NFL. This week they play the Pittsburgh Steelers who they should be able to beat pretty easily. I hope the Eagles actually lose a game before they get to 10 wins or so, because if they don’t, the hype could become overwhelming on the team. It is ironic that Nick Sirianni is in his second season as the coach, which was also the case for Doug Pederson when the Eagles won the Super Bowl in 2017. So, anything is possible. Go Birds!

I hope the weather cooperates for Halloween here in Rehoboth, and I hope everyone watches the Phillies.
