Man, 66, dies in Bridgeville grain tank

A Bridgeville man died April 10 after police say he was trapped in a grain tank.

Delaware State Police and Bridgeville Fire Co. were called about 4:50 p.m. to Evans Farm on Redden Road for a report of two men trapped in a grain tank. Police said two Bridgeville men, one 66 and the other 20, had entered the tank to loosen an auger that was clogged with corn. While inside the tank, police said corn from above fell on the man, trapping them. 

Rescue crews worked to the remove the men, and the 20-year-old was taken to an area hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries. The man, 66, was found and pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld pending notification of his family.
