Man indicted in death of his son

A Delaware grand jury has indicted David B. Chirdon, 62, in connection with the death of his son.

Delaware State Police Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe said troopers were dispatched about 8:26 p.m., July 10 to a residence in the 15000 block of Winner Circle, Lincoln, for a death investigation. They located Brian Chirdon, 34, who was suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to Bayhealth Hospital in Milford and later transferred to Christiana Hospital, where he succumbed to his injury.

On Aug. 19, a Sussex County grand jury indicted David Chirdon on charges of manslaughter and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Jaffee said David Chirdon turned himself in Aug. 20 at Troop 4. He was arraigned in Sussex County Superior Court and released after posting $40,000 secured bond.
