Marianne Shaubach, devoted to her family

November 4, 2025

With grace and quiet strength, Marianne Shaubach of Dagsboro passed away peacefully Thursday, Oct. 30, 2025, in her home surrounded by her loving family. Born Dec. 4, 1936, to Wilhelmina and Charles Fry Sr. in Lancaster Pa., she lived a life defined by humor, creativity, and a deep devotion to those she loved.

Known for her quick wit, generous spirit, and kind heart, Marianne had a special gift for making others feel welcome and loved. She enjoyed hosting family and friends, filling her home with laughter, love, and warmth. Her creativity shone through in everything she touched, from her home and flower gardens to the way she brought people together for her Halloween parties and holiday gatherings.

Family was Marianne’s greatest joy. A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she shared a special and unique bond with each of her loved ones, whether traveling together, enjoying a day of shopping, or simply sharing a glass of wine while talking and laughing together late into the evening. She also had a tender place in her heart for her pets, caring for them with the same affection she gave everyone she loved.

A hardworking and entrepreneurial woman, Marianne and her late husband, Richard, built several successful businesses together, including Ocean View Plumbing and Heating. Her perseverance, integrity and dedication continue to inspire her family and those who know her.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Fry Jr.; and sister, Joyce Styer. Marianne will be deeply missed by her children, Carolyn (Keith) Retallack, Barbara (Scott) Whitefield, Joyce Wynes, Jennifer Shaubach-Johnston (Stephen Pattee) and Richard (Christine) Shaubach Jr.; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many dear relatives and friends.

A viewing will be held at 9 a.m., Friday, Nov. 7, at the Ocean View Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 38040 Muddy Neck Road, Ocen View, followed by a service at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Humane Animal Partners, 18675 Coastal Hwy., Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971 and Frankford Volunteer Fire Company, P.O. Box 27, Frankford, DE, 19945.

Her heart was kind, her humor enduring, and her love everlasting—a life beautifully lived and deeply loved.
