Mariner girls’ basketball remains unbeaten
The Mariner girls’s basketball team, under coaches John Wright and David Fleurantin, moved to 4-0 with a 25-4 win over Sussex Academy Dec. 11, followed by a 38-6 home win over Delmar Dec. 13.
Mia Scott, Jordynn Bowe and Blair Chubb are the leading scorers for the Vikings.
The Mariner boys’ basketball team, coached by Josh Hackney and Terry Hazzard, has won three straight home games after a season-opening loss on the road at Seaford. The Vikings are now 3-1 on the season.
Mariner has consecutive wins over Selbyville 35-28, Sussex Academy 39-29 and Delmar 30-20.
Joseph Ruark led Mariner against Sussex Academy with 12 points, while Harlem Johnson chipped in with 10.
In the 30-20 win over Delmar, Chris Prince and Johnson each had 11 points.
Both Mariner teams will be at home Monday, Dec. 18, when they host Millsboro. The boys’ game starts at 4 p.m., followed by the girls’ contest at 5:15.
