Mariner volleyball close, but falls to Selbyville

October 17, 2019

The Mariner Middle School volleyball squad took the first set against undefeated Selbyville 25-21, but the Indians came back to win the next two sets 25-14 and 15-10 to secure the match win. The Vikings move to 3-3 on the season, while the Indians are 6-0.

“We came out tough in game one,” said Mariner coach Alison Botti. “We gave Selbyville their first set loss of the year, but they came back to take the second and third. We had an amazing defense. Maggie Minto and Marleigh Blank had great digs, and Lily Joyce had great blocks. A lot of our girls had aces from the service line. They have a lot to be proud about.”

The Mariner B team fell to the Indians 25-14 in a competitive match.

The Vikings were set to take to the road Oct. 17 to face Providence Creek Academy.
